Jessica Kumala Wongso, Convict in the Cyanide Coffee Case Free from Prison in Jakarta, Indonesia

The convict in the cyanide coffee case, Jessica Kumala Wongso, was released on parole from Pondok Bambu prison, East Jakarta on August 18 2024. Jessica's lawyer, Otto Hasibuan, said his client was out of detention after serving only 8 years in prison after being granted parole.

It was previously known that Jessica Kumala Wongso had been found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering by putting cyanide poison in the Vietnamese iced coffee of the victim, Wayan Mirna Salihin, who was her best friend when they met at a cafe in a mall in Jakarta in 2016.

Then. In 2023, the cyanide coffee case with convict Jessica Kumala Wongso resurfaced after the release of a documentary entitled "Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso" which was broadcast on the Netflix platform.
