A shopper halted an escalator to save a woman and a child from a terrifying fall in a mall in southern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in Liuyang City in Hunan Province on August 16. A woman riding an escalator lost her balance and fell while holding her child in one hand and a phone in the other.

A quick-thinking male shopper rushed to the scene, managing to stop the escalator just in time and preventing a potential tragedy.

Mall staff quickly responded to the scene, providing immediate assistance to the woman and her child. Fortunately, both were unharmed aside from being shaken by the experience.

The mall management covered their medical checks and extended heartfelt thanks to the heroic shopper who intervened.

The man downplayed his actions, stating, "I just did what anyone would do. When I heard the cries for help, I knew someone was in trouble. I didn't think much—just wanted to help."

对于自己的英勇行为，男顾客表示只是做了应该做的事情。他说：“当时听到呼救声，我就知道有人需要帮助。我没想那么多，只想赶紧救人。”
