The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced on Tuesday that in July, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled approximately 4.8 million passengers.
This marks a 24.7-percent increase compared to the same period last year, setting a new high since the full resumption of travel between Hong Kong and the mainland on February 6, 2023.
The AAHK noted that passenger traffic maintained a strong growth momentum, with the peak daily number exceeding 170,000. On July 28, the airport recorded 173,000 passengers in a single day, the highest since the full reopening.
Cargo throughput for July also saw a year-on-year increase of 14.6 percent, exceeding 410,000 tonnes. This has resulted in a consistent double-digit growth in monthly cargo volume for this year.
