Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead outside a house on a residential street in a city suburb.

Emergency services were called to Hereford Close, in the Rubery area of Birmingham, at around 12.30am today (Wed).

Officers discovered the male victim who was confirmed deceased at the scene and detectives are currently treating his death as 'unexplained'.

His family have been informed and enquiries are now underway to established how the man, who has not yet been named, died.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are investigating after a man was found dead outside a house in Birmingham today."

"We were called to an address in Hereford Close, Rubery, at around 12.30am."

"Officers found a man who was sadly confirmed dead at the scene. His family has been informed."

"An investigation has been launched to establish how the man died, and the death is being treated as unexplained."
