A video has shown the moment crowds flocked to watch a boat which became stuck under a Norfolk Broads bridge.

Eyewitnesses said it remained there until another boat pulled it free half an hour later during the incident on Tuesday (August 20).

Crowds of around 50 people gathered on top of Wroxham Bridge, near Norwich, Norfolk and the surrounding banks.

Louis Baron, who was fishing in the river at the time, captured the ordeal on video and said it was "good fun"."

As the boat was pulled free from under the bridge by a tug vessel, the crowd let out a cheer and clapped.

The Norfolk Broads authority spokesperson said: "A hire vessel was stuck under Wroxham Bridge on Tuesday afternoon. "

"It was assisted through by a tug vessel, and all crew were unharmed."

"The authority was not involved in the recovery of the vessel."

Wroxham Bridge is a semi-circular road bridge with 7ft headroom at average high water height.

It is one of the most difficult to navigate after Potter Heigham Bridge, near Great Yarmouth, on the Norfolk Broads.
