A Ferris wheel door opened mid-ride, sending a mother and child into a panic in southern China.

Video filmed in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, on 21 August shows the Ferris wheel slowly ascending when the door of one cabin opened on its own. The mother and daughter inside were visibly frightened and distressed, with the young girl exclaiming "scared."

Staff quickly responded to the emergency, promptly lowering the cabin to ensure the safety of the visitors. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The amusement park apologised for the incident, attributing the malfunction to rain that possibly affected the sensor controlling the door. To address the concerns of the affected mother and daughter, the park issued a refund and promised to investigate the issue further.

Local cultural and tourism authorities, as well as city monitoring departments, are now involved. The cultural and tourism bureau is reviewing the situation, while the city monitoring department has dispatched personnel to investigate.
