STORYLINE:
Subotica, a northern Serbian city, welcomed renowned folklore troupes on Wednesday for the opening of the 23rd annual Interetno Festival. This year's festival highlights Latin American and European performances, celebrating diverse musical and dance traditions while promoting international collaboration.
In the opening address, the director of Interetno Festival Bela Bodrogi expressed gratitude to Subotica and festival sponsors for their support, inviting the audience to enjoy the five-day event.

Assistant Mayor of Subotica Srdjan Samardzic highlighted the city’s role as a meeting point for the traditions and customs of various nations and a gathering place for youth from around the world.

Exhibitions of handicrafts and local delicacies are also held during the festival, which lasts till Aug. 25.
Since its inception 23 years ago, the Interetno Festival has steadily grown in prominence, earning recognition as a premier cultural event in the region.
It received the prestigious "CIOFF International Festival" designation in late 2022 and has been organized under UNESCO's auspices since 2019, further solidifying its status as a significant global cultural event.
