STORYLINE:

Croatia's tourism revenues will increase by 4 percent to reach a new record of 15.2 billion euros (16.82 billion U.S. dollars) this year, the local daily Jutarnji List said in a recent report.

Meanwhile, in 2025 and 2026, the growth rate of Croatia's tourism revenues is expected to accelerate to 4.5 percent, and will reach 15.9 billion euros and 16.6 billion euros respectively, the report said.

The latest CNB projection is based "on the results of a macroeconomic model," on physical indicators about the number of overnight stays and guest arrivals or traffic on highways, financial indicators such as service payment data, etc., the report added.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): DARJA DRAGOJE, Head of the Public and International Relations Department of the Zagreb Tourist Board
"The tourist situation in the Croatian capital Zagreb is looking really good. So from the beginning of the year, up to now, we had 10 percent more increase in arrivals and 6 percent more increase in overnight stays in Zagreb."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): DARJA DRAGOJE, Head of the Public and International Relations Department of the Zagreb Tourist Board
"Records are not that top mission anymore, but still we are hoping that if everything stays in terms of general global situation like it is now, that Zagreb will have till the end of the year an increase and positive results. So we are hoping for an optimistic future, but still we do not want the double digits increase because that would not be in terms of sustainability, it would not be good."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): GRACE O'BRIAN, Tourist
"I heard that the people were really nice and that they had really nice food and it's so true. It is very true. The people are lovely and the landscape and everything is gorgeous too."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): VINCE MAESTRO, Tourist
"It was not on our bucket list, but we have relatives who are Croatian. And also we decided rather than going to the mainstream countries in Europe like Spain, Italy, France, we'd try something different because we'd been to all those, and I have to say we are very happy with our decision."
