This is the amusing moment an adorable panda cub was seen playing with rubber ducks in a Chinese zoo.

Mang Xiaowu, the bi-coloured furry creature, was spotted bathing in an outdoor tub while accompanied by the yellow floating toys at Chongqing Zoo in China on August 3.

Footage shows the young bamboo eater affectionately hugging and nuzzling the toy ducks.

The cub is one of the five offspring of Mang Zai. He was born on July 6 last year, weighing just 191 grams (0.42 pounds).

Pandas were once on the brink of extinction due to habitat loss and low birth rates. This prompted the government to take action, resulting in the status of pandas being downgraded from 'endangered' to 'vulnerable' by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2016.

China has established several panda breeding centers, such as the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, to help increase their population. These centers also conduct research on the animals' behavior and health.
