STORYLINE:
A container ship departed from north China's Tianjin Port on Saturday on a brand new direct shipping route to Southeast Asia.
Three vessels will be deployed on the route. Each ship has a capacity of 1,100 standard containers.
The route is expected to shorten shipping time between Tianjin and Southeast Asia by 20 percent, down to about 6.5 days.
