Toddler bites snake to death while playing on home's patio in India
A toddler mistook a snake for a chewy toy and bit it to death at the front of their home in India.
One-year-old Riyansh was playing on their home patio on August 17 when he found the black and shiny Brahimny blind snake in Bihar.
Riyansh grabbed the serpent, which he thought was a squishy toy, and gnawed on it with his baby teeth.
He was found by his parents holding the snake before being rushed to a hospital as they thought he could be hurt.
But doctors were astonished when they did tests on the infant and he was unharmed.
Footage shows Riyansh with his mother in the hospital. They later discovered the snake was non-venomous and the family buried its carcass in the backyard.
The Brahminy blind snake is a small, non-venomous, nearly blind snake that looks like a worm. It is native to Southeast Asia but has spread worldwide, often through the plant trade.
