Dramatic moment landslide crashes down mountainside
This is the dramatic moment a landslide crashed down the mountainside during a storm.
Footage shows mud and rocks cascading downhill sending debris flowing onto market in Krabi, southern Thailand on August 24.
No one was hurt but the landslide and flooding affected traffic in the area with many vehicles stranded.
The torrential weather began at 5 am that day with water levels reaching 12 to 20 inches (30 to 50 centimetres) due to heavy rain lasting for three days.
Authorities said the water could not be pumped out immediately and reached homes. Officers will also assess the damage and assist residents.
On that day, the Thailand Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasted scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains for Southern Thailand on the West Coast, including Krabi.
In the north, floods left at least 22 people dead and up to 30,000 displaced.
During a visit to the northern region of Nan over the weekend, acting prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra distributed food supplies to residents.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
