Shocking moment ceiling collapses on three women at a shop
A shop ceiling collapsed at a grocery store and narrowly missed the owners and a worker.
CCTV footage shows the structure subsiding over three women who rushed to flee in Buriram, Thailand on August 20.
The debris fell on top of the mother and daughter who owns the shop and their employee but the shelves prevented it from hitting them.
Aside from the ceiling that broke off, some of the products displayed for sale and their supplies were damaged from the collapse. However, no one was hurt.
The shop's owner Jarunee Srijinda said: ‘It was a grocery shop in front of our house. The rainstorm hit our shop and caused moisture that weakened the ceiling.
‘It gradually broke and fell when there was no rain. My mum, sister, and a worker ran away. We were so shocked because it was the first time that it happened.'
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
