Resident floats pet dog to safety through floods
A resident floated her pet dog on a box to reach safety as thunderstorms caused severe flooding in northern Thailand.
Footage shows the woman carefully wading through the brown deluge with the pooch standing on a makeshift styrofoam boat in Phrae province on August 23.
She had empty water bottles tied on her arms to keep her afloat as she crossed the water.
Her neighbour Chalita said: ‘It was touching to see her and the dog in a foam box.'
The Thai Meteorological Department had forecasted widespread thunderstorms and heavy rain across northern Thailand, including Phrae province.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon, leading to widespread flash floods.
