Iran: Qatar, Iran communicate on Gaza ceasefire talks

Tehran, Iran - August 26, 2024

Qatar and Iran called for concerted efforts to act together to curb crimes by Israel in Gaza and ensure stability and security in the region after the two sides communicated on Gaza ceasefire talks in Tehran on Monday.

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani visited Iran on Monday, and met respectively with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

Pezeshkian said in the meeting that Iran appreciated the efforts made by Qatar in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, calling on countries in the region and the international community to act together to curb all kinds of crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.

Sheikh Mohammed said that Qatar would continue its efforts in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, and hoped that Iran would play a constructive role in this regard.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said in his meeting with Sheikh Mohammed that Iran would welcome any deal Hamas is willing to make.

Sheikh Mohammed said relevant sides further engaging in diplomatic consultations on Gaza ceasefire talks is conducive to ensuring stability and security in the region.
