A bride was "blown away" after her brother spent 120 hours making her dream wedding dress from scratch."

Reagen Varross, 28, had always promised to create his sister's, Brooke Evans, 30, wedding dress.

The couture fashion designer spent 120 hours making the gown - which combined elements of a "vintage design" with a "modern twist"."

Brooke couldn't have been happier with her dress and tied the knot on August 17, 2024.

Brooke, a hairdresser from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, said: "The whole day was a dream."

"When I saw the dress I was very emotional – it was all totally couture – I was blown away."

The creation process started with a toile - a mock-up of the dress in a basic fabric - allowing for adjustments and alterations before moving on to the final fabric.

Brooke wanted a dress in keeping with the couple's wish for the wedding not to be too overly formal.

After a couple of months of work, Brooke was left speechless when she finally saw it for the first time.

Brooke said: "It just blew me away. "

"I had seen designs and things before, but actually seeing it in the flesh and trying it on – it was amazing."

"Normally the dress would have cost £18,000 but I only paid for the materials, and he did it as a gift for me."

Reagen also designed a bespoke dress for their mother, Faye Evans, 50 - a green jumpsuit - as part of the mammoth project that took months of work.

Brooke revealed the dress to her mum and dad, Brian Evans, 54, on the wedding day.

She said: "They were both very emotional."

"It's such a special thing to happen, and it meant the world to her to see me in a dress made by her son - it was so special."

The bridesmaids were also "drying their tears" when they caught their first glimpse of the dress. "

Brooke tied the knot with her groom Alex, 35, a postman, at a reception in Cheswell Grange in Newport, Shropshire.

Brooke said: "The day was a joyful celebration - filled with laughter, love, and a lot of dancing." "

The couple wanted a relaxed, party-focused atmosphere and all the groomsmen wore suits paired with trainers—a nod to their laid-back style.

Brooke also changed into trainers in the afternoon so she could enjoy the rest of the day in comfort.

Brooke said: "Everyone looked so cool – it was a sea of black suits with trainers as we were going for a more relaxed vibe."

"The reception featured amazing live performances, including singers and saxophonists who got the party started." "

Some of Brooke's other friends also chipped in for her big day.

Her former hairdressing boss Tim Scott-Wright did her hair and her friend Vicky Henry, did her makeup.

Reagan had previously made a dress for Brooke which had turned heads at the British Hairdressing Awards - a lime green corset dress with oversized shoulders.

She said: "That was beautiful, but this one was something else. "

"He's an incredible designer, and it made the day even more perfect."
