Los Angeles, United States - August 27, 2024

08/27/2024 02:25 am (GMT-0700) | SILVER LAKE, LOS ANGELES – The LAFD and CHP officers responded to a traffic collision Tuesday morning on the southbound I-5 Freeway under the Glendale overcrossing.

Reports of five to six vehicles involved were later updated to four vehicles. The collision was so severe that one involved vehicle had its engine blown into multiple lanes and approximately 50 feet from the vehicle.

LAFD evaluated five victims at the scene, some of which requested to not be transported by LAFD against medical advice. One female victim was taken to a local area hospital. All lanes of the southbound I-5 are currently closed while crews work to clear the freeway. Information is subject to change as this story develops.
