Behavior of Bornean Orangutans, In Their Natural Habitat, Central Kalimantan Orangutans
One study found that male orangutans are more tolerant of sexually active females. The way they approach is by taking food from the females and if they do not reject it, the male will continue the relationship until the copulation stage. If the female makes a long call, it means that they reject the presence of the male and end the relationship at the end of the same day. So, even though sharing food with the female passively does not mean mating directly for the male, if that does not happen, the female can end their togetherness and reject the male's opportunity to copulate.
Greetings
