A bungling motorcycle rider smashed through a level crossing barrier and was thrown off his vehicle.

CCTV footage shows the motorist slamming into the railing as it was being lowered down for the approaching train in East Java, Indonesia, on August 25.

He broke the barrier in half and was thrown off his two-wheeler onto the railroad tracks.

The motorcycle rider stood up, seemingly in pain, and picked up his motorbike before a security guard assisted him.

The motorcycle rider said: ‘I didn't see the barrier.'

Local transportation department head Nizam said the safety barrier has since been repaired and the rider had received a warning.

The official said: ‘We have visited the motorcycle rider's house to talk to him. We hope he learned a valuable lesson.'

To improve safety in the area, railway officers said they would consider installing gates on the path.
