STORYLINE:

Boasting a history of more than 500 years, Wu Opera, also known as Jinhua Opera, is a major regional operatic genre in east China's Zhejiang Province.

During this summer, a Wu Opera troupe staged a series of fascinating performances in Germany, Spain, and Andorra, gaining popularity among overseas audiences.

As a national intangible cultural heritage, Wu Opera emphasizes not only the basic skills of speech, song, dance, and combat in movements, but also the emotional depth and character portrayal, leading the audiences to experience the charm of history.

"To better promote Wu Opera, we invite local audiences and let them experience the opera's facial makeup during the performance. Moreover, before the performance, we made a detailed introduction about the makeup, costumes, and dress order of Wu Opera to the audience. We also made efforts to translate the contents by using the contexts or phrases they were familiar with so that they could accurately and timely understand our plots. Therefore, the Wu Opera can be better promoted overseas."
