A brave homeowner faced up to a 400lb black bear and chased it away from his garage.

David Bouley was sat at his home in Connecticut, USA, on August 3 when an unwanted visitor sauntered across his garden.

Heartstopping footage shows the adult bear suddenly appear from around a Jeep causing David to stand up and immediately confront the beast.

Undaunted by the animal in front of him, David walked closer to it and shouted ‘get out of here’ until the bear left his land.

David said: “I was just relaxing, sitting at the end of the garage, enjoying the sounds of the tree frogs, when a car crept by.

“Soon after it caught my attention and disappeared behind the Jeep, I heard it give a little 'beep'.

“That's what made me stand up. I didn't even know the bear was there until then.

“We made eye contact, I resisted the urge to give it a big hug, and decided to try 'hazing' in the hopes that it would go away and never return.

“My wife, kids and dog were all in the house and could have come out at any moment.

“We get bears often, but this was the first time one even attempted entry into the garage. Eventually he just sauntered off toward our neighbour’s yard.”
