Sewer turn into fountain after heavy rain, sending fish sprawling across pavement in China
A passerby filmed as a manhole exploded with water, sending fish sprawling across a pavement in Dongying, Shandong Province.
According to meteorological experts, a large amount of rainwater poured into the sewer system in a short time, causing a rapid increase in water pressure within the sewers.
When the water pressure exceeds the load capacity of the manhole covers, the covers are forced open, creating a "fountain" effect.
Dongying's sewer system is likely connected to nearby rivers, lakes, or other bodies of water. When the manhole covers are pushed open, the powerful flow of water from the sewers can also carry fish out with it.
