This is the moment a Chinese couple crashed their rented motorcycle into a cafe.

The tourists, whose names were not disclosed by police, were turning at a roundabout when they lost control and barreled toward the shop in Pattaya, Thailand, on August 26.

CCTV footage shows the two-wheeler accelerating into the patio of the cafe. The front wheel was lodged in the white balustrade, while a female passenger was thrown off her seat.

The Chinese holidaymakers did not appear to have suffered serious injuries.

Another driver who helped the couple said: 'I don't know why they crashed. I only saw them colliding into the store's fence so I rushed over to help them.'

The cafe owner said the couple agreed to pay for the repairs. They told them they had rented the bike for 250 baht a day.

He said: ‘We are currently waiting to be summoned at the Pattaya Police Station for negotiations regarding the damages.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
