This is the dramatic moment holidaymakers work together to rescue children buried after digging a cave in a sand dune in China.

Footage from August 24 shows several people frantically digging through the sand after two children became trapped inside.

Most of the children managed to free themselves, but the two trapped kids needed urgent assistance.

The incident occurred in the Ordos Desert, known for its vast sand dunes and challenging terrain. The desert, which spans 30,000 square miles, attracts tourists, including children and their parents, who were exploring the dunes when the cave collapsed.

Men dig away large mounds of sand by hand and throw it down the dune until they finally rescue the last boy.

Covered in sand, the child is pulled out, gasping for breath, and given water to drink and wash himself, while others continue to search for any remaining children who might still be buried.

The Ordos Desert is situated between the Hetao region to the north and the Loess Plateau to the south. Its soil, a mix of dry clay and sand, is poorly suited for agriculture.
