This is the dramatic moment a black bear causes a bizarre traffic jam on a Russian motorway.

The incident occurred on the M-11 Neva motorway in the Tver region at around 1:20 am on August 25.

Footage shows the bear running down the motorway with a line of cars, lorries, and buses trailing behind it. Motorists, moving slowly and maintaining a safe distance, are seen navigating the traffic jam.

One motorist appeared to have lost their patience, however, and can briefly be seen trying to overtake the vehicles in the fast lane by using a space between the fast lane and the crash barrier.

Local media reported that the cortege of lorries, cars, and other vehicles followed the young bear until it left the road after a four-kilometre trek.

Officials later found that the bear had entered through a hole in a fence, which has since been repaired. It was not disclosed how the bear exited the motorway.
