STORYLINE:
The construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been completed, and the world's largest host of ancient Egyptian monuments is ready for the official opening, said Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Thursday, in a press conference.
He added that the work for developing the surrounding areas of the museum is still ongoing, including the roads and axes leading to the museum complex.
He said that choosing the right time for the opening ceremony is tied to the political outlook, considering the regional situation.
The museum is expected to host about 100,000 ancient artifacts, more than 4,500 of which are from the tomb of Tutankhamun, and to receive around 15,000 visitors a day.
