Thai company introduces 'Tinder leave' for staff to have one-night stands
A company in Thailand is giving its employees paid 'Tinder leave' to go out on dates for their well-being.
Marketing agency Whiteline Group said it had become concerned when a staff member complained they were too busy with work to seek a partner.
Managers have now introduced holiday pay for eligible employees, allowing them to take time off for days - and nights - out with lovers and hook ups.
Apart from the additional leave, Whiteline Group was also sponsoring six-month Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum subscriptions for its staff.
They hope that by finding love on the dating app, employees can boost their productivity and well-being, helping them to settle down with 'the one'.
The benefits will be available from July 9 to the end of the year.
While the move might seem bizarre, corporate managers are known to prefer staff who have a stable home life over those who have multiple partners or those who stay out late partying regularly.
Managers at Whiteline also cited research indicating that being in love increases happiness, which in turn makes work more enjoyable as someone supports their mental well-being.
Whiteline Group is a Bangkok-based online-to-offline marketing agency providing professional field marketing and activation services.
A study by Brendon McConnell at the University of Southampton in 2023 found that 'married individuals earn higher hourly wages than their single counterparts, the so-called marriage wage premium'.
It continues: 'The men's premium has been long established, while for women, the relationship between being married and wages has evolved from a penalty to a premium over the last decades.'
