This is the dramatic moment a bridge collapsed during heavy floods in India.

Video shows the concrete bridge deck buckling in the middle as it was battered by the swollen Bhogavo River in Gujarat state on August 27.

The 330ft structure connected Habiyasar and Chotila villages and was reportedly weakened when water from a dam in Nani Morsal town was released into the river.

KK Sharma, the sub-divisional magistrate of Chotila village, said: 'The administration had not been made aware of any structural issues or weaknesses in the bridge.'

No injuries were reported from the collapse.

Gujarat has been pummeled by heavy rain for several days.

Authorities said the Vishwamitri River had overflowed its banks and flooded nearby homes, killing at least 28 people and displacing thousands more.

The reptiles living in the river were also washed away toward the residential area.

The Indian army has deployed three columns to assist in the rescue efforts.
