Heroic rescue: RPF officer saves woman hit by train in western India
In a dramatic turn of events at a railway station in western India's Maharashtra, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer rescued a woman who had been struck by a train while crossing the tracks.
The incident took place at Jalgaon Railway Station in Jalgaon district on August 27
Visuals showed the officer’s courageous effort as he noticed the woman attempting to cross the tracks just before a train's arrival. Despite his initial attempt to pull her onto the platform failing, the officer acted swiftly when the woman became trapped between the train and the platform, getting dragged for several meters. He ran back and successfully pulled her to safety.
Speaking to Newslions, Assistant Security Force Officer Ashok Kumar from Bhusawal shared that Constable C.J. Chaudhary, stationed on Platform 03, observed the woman trying to cross from Platform 02 to Platform 03 at around 08:34 AM, just as a train named NLOD was passing through.
Displaying remarkable bravery, Constable Chaudhary risked his life by running about 50 meters to reach her. He pulled her off the tracks, saving her from further harm. Although he managed to rescue her, the woman sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Jalgaon for treatment under MLC No. N.014868/2024. Unfortunately, due to the injuries sustained, she succumbed to her injuries while being treated at the hospital.
