USA: Long Beach SWAT Response For Shooting at Residence

08/28/2024 10:34 pm (GMT-0700) | LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach PD and Long Beach SWAT responded to the 5800 block of Falcon Avenue Wednesday evening around 9:30 p.m. for a shooting incident reported at a residence.

According to the Long Beach Police Department statement regarding the incident, arriving officers contacted the female adult victim, who stated the male suspect walked out of a residence, fired gunshots in her direction, and walked back inside. The woman was not injured and called the police.

Police established a perimeter but failed to make contact with the suspect. SWAT arrived and conducted an hours-long operation in an attempt to make contact with the suspect. Two bearcats were used in addition to flash bangs, tear gas, and other less lethal munitions.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., SWAT officers made entry to the home and ultimately took the suspect into custody.

The suspect was being medically cleared at a local hospital before being booked on felony assault charges, according to the police department's statement.

A firearm was recovered from inside the residence, and the investigation is ongoing, according to the Long Beach PD.
