Kansas City, United States - July 08, 2024

In the early hours of July 8, a beloved shawarma restaurant in Kansas City's Westport neighborhood fell victim to arson, leaving the community in shock. The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department has now arrested one of the individuals believed to be responsible for the fire that destroyed Haha's Kebab's and Shawarma located at W. 39th and Wyandotte St.

The incident unfolded just after 2 a.m. when emergency services were dispatched to the scene following reports of a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the restaurant engulfed in flames, with the structure ultimately reduced to ashes. Security footage from the night captured two individuals setting an object alight and tossing it through a broken window, leading to the rapid spread of the fire.

Following the release of the footage and photos of the suspects, along with details of their getaway vehicle—a white sedan—the Kansas City Police Department received numerous tips from the public. These efforts led to the arrest of one of the suspects, who has been charged with arson. The police expressed their gratitude for the community's assistance in identifying the first suspect.

However, the investigation is ongoing as authorities are still seeking to identify and apprehend the second suspect, who was seen wearing black pants in the security footage.
