A dad who interviewed his daughter on the first day of school every year has shared their final video as she heads off to college.

Ray Petelin, 47, came up with the idea to ask his little girl, Elizabeth, now 17, a series of questions each new school year to see how his daughter's ambitions changed.

When Elizabeth first started kindergarten, aged five, in 2012, Ray sat her down and recorded the moment he asked her what she wanted to be when she was older and what she was looking forward to that year.

Over the years Elizabeth has said she wanted to be a doctor, teacher, magician, waitress and heart surgeon when she grows up.

Now on their thirteenth video, the pair released the bittersweet moment Ray asked Elizabeth the questions for the final time and she revealed she now wants to become a physical therapist or a nurse.

Ray, a meteorologist at KDKA-TV, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, said: "I started this when she was in kindergarten. "

"I looked back at the first video and it still feels like it was yesterday."

"I wanted to show her when she is a senior and as she is now a senior, this will be the last one but I will certainly get one when she moves into her own place."

Ray and Elizabeth recorded their bittersweet last video together this month.

He said: "I made the compilation and I've always shown her the interviews every time she has done them."

Elizabeth has named a range of jobs she has wanted to do including become a doctor, a magician, a teacher and a sports therapist.

Ray said: "She did say magic one year, but I knew that wasn't going to last."

"She has always been keen to go down a medical profession."

"Parents have commented on the video saying that I should be 'dad of the year' and that they will be starting to this with their children."

Ray's video has now reached 17.5 million views now on X and has received lots of supportive comments from parents all over the world.
