STORYLINE:

The 61st edition of the Ljubicevo Equestrian Games officially commenced on Friday in the city of Pozarevac, heralding one of Serbia's most celebrated sports-tourism events.
   
Attended by Minister of Culture Nikola Selakovic and Pozarevac Mayor Sasa Pavlovic, the opening ceremony featured a grand horse parade through the city's central Tabacka Carsija quarter. Participants showcased their horses while paying tribute to significant local and national historical figures.

Running from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 at the hippodrome in Pozarevac, around 80 kilometers southeast of Serbia's capital city, the Ljubicevo Equestrian Games are a cornerstone of Serbian equestrian tradition, blending athleticism with cultural heritage. 

The event features a packed schedule of competitions, including galloping races and show jumping, along with various equestrian disciplines that enhance the event's appeal.
   
A highlight of the games is the prestigious "Ljubicevo Viseboj," a unique contest featuring multiple disciplines that solidify the event's esteemed position in the world of equestrian sports. Competitors will showcase their skills in five traditional medieval disciplines: saber cutting, archery, spear throwing, mace throwing, and courier riding.
   
Visitors can also enjoy a range of cultural and tourist activities.
