STORYLINE:

An engineer exchange program held in north China's Tianjin has helped promote mutual learning between Chinese and African young talents in the auto industry. 

The Global Young Engineer Exchange Program (Go-YEEP), which concluded on Thursday, attracted automotive engineers from 16 countries and regions, including six African countries.

"What I have gained is a rising awareness in using the automotive standards, especially in road safety and road preservation. I have seen different models there that were implemented through the standards."

"We are looking at the commitment to moving towards a global goal of having zero emissions by promoting EVs. This is very, very important. Even to us in Africa, the developing world, we are looking to this, and maybe one of the impressions is we are considering China to be our first benchmark in this."

"I think we can work together to collaborate in harmonized standards because I believe that there's so much technology that China has adopted in the automotive standardization that Kenya can learn from and can also be used in our automotive industry."
