The video showcases the intimate moment where the mother woodpecker, identifiable by her less extensive red cap compared to the male, carefully feeds her eager chick. This species, known for its striking black and white barred back and a subtle red belly, is a common sight in the eastern United States, but such close-up interactions are rarely caught on camera.

Red-bellied Woodpeckers, despite their name, are more easily recognized by their vibrant red nape and the zebra-like pattern on their backs rather than the faint red on their bellies.
