Reedley, United States - August 11, 2023

In an inspiring display of community and quick action, a horse named Bailey was rescued from the Kings River on August 11th, 2023 afternoon after a perilous slip from an embankment. The incident unfolded near S. Rio Vista Ave., where Bailey found herself in a life-threatening situation, entangled in wire and unable to escape the river's grasp.

The drama began when Bailey's owner, along with several neighbors, noticed the horse's predicament. Unable to free Bailey on their own, they promptly called the Sheriff's Office. While awaiting professional help, the group heroically endeavored to keep the horse's head above water, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.

Responding to the call, Deputy Kirkpatrick and Reserve Deputy Aghoian of the Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene with a boat, navigating the river to reach the distressed animal. Upon arrival, they found Bailey tangled in wire, which added complexity to the already challenging rescue. Using their training and equipped with the necessary tools, the deputies carefully cut through the wire, liberating Bailey from her aquatic trap.

After being freed, Bailey was guided back to shore, where she was checked for injuries. Although visibly shaken and exhausted from the ordeal, initial assessments suggested that Bailey would recover from her river adventure.
