United States - August 21, 2024

In a touching display of compassion, an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper has become a local hero after rescuing an injured kitten from the perilous lanes of Interstate 77 in Stark County. The rescue, which took place on August 21, was captured in a video shared by the Ohio Highway Patrol on their X account, showcasing the softer side of law enforcement.

The incident unfolded when a concerned motorist alerted authorities to a small, vulnerable kitten stranded in the northbound lanes of I-77, near the Duluth Trading Co. location. Responding to the call, the trooper, whose identity remains undisclosed, located the frightened animal huddled against the concrete barrier separating the traffic directions.

The video, which has since warmed hearts across social media, shows the trooper approaching the kitten with gentle reassurance. "Hey, bud. Hey, buddy," he can be heard saying softly, "It's OK. It's OK." Using his reflective vest as a makeshift carrier, the trooper carefully lifts the kitten from its dangerous predicament and secures it in his patrol vehicle.

Following the rescue, the kitten was immediately taken to the Stark County Veterinary Clinic for treatment. Despite its ordeal, the kitten was found to have no life-threatening injuries, thanks to the trooper's timely intervention. After receiving medical care, the feline was transferred to the Stark County Humane Society, where it awaits a forever home.
