Aden, Yemen - August 30, 2024

Five people were killed and six others injured in a gas station explosion in Yemen's southern port city of Aden Friday evening, according to local media reports.

The powerful explosion shook a residential neighborhood, local media reported.

The loud blast, originating from a gas station, sent shockwaves through the densely populated district of Mansourah in Aden, causing panic among the residents, according to the witnesses.

Witnesses reported seeing flames engulf the gas station just moments before the explosion. An intense flash of light briefly illuminated the night sky, visible across much of the city.

So far, the major fire has been mostly extinguished, while the cause of the explosion is under investigation.
