Passing motorists spotted a policeman's motorcycle catching on fire as the officer was sleeping on the job.

Footage shows the motorcycle riders crossing a junction and passing by a two-wheeler beside an outpost, its front part emitting thick smoke, in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 28.

The men pulled over and called for the policeman, who was dozing off on a mattress inside the traffic outpost.

They poured water on it and helped open the vehicle so the cop could retrieve his valuables.

One of the motorists who helped said: ‘The police motorcycle had an electrical short circuit. Fire could have spread and engulfed it, but we saw it on time.'

The police thanked the good Samaritans who went on their way afterwards. No one was hurt by the fire.
