Footage shows Constables Taqiuddin and Ram from a nearby police unit saving a local from drowning in an overflowing stream in the Nagarkurnool area of Telangana on September 1.

Officers spotted the man struggling against the powerful currents and pulled him to safety.

The Superintendent of Police and Telangana Director General of Police, Jitender, praised the cops for their bravery and commitment.

Telangana, including its capital Hyderabad, has been severely affected by heavy rains and flooding recently, with more rain expected in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department attributes the relentless rainfall to a depression over the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha, which moved northwestward and crossed Andhra Pradesh's coast near Kalingapatnam early Sunday morning.
