Footage shows a pillion passenger carrying a crocodile on a motorcycle in India.

The 6ft reptile, with its jaws secured by a rope, was carried by two members of the Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) on a Friday night in Vadodara, Gujarat.

Raj Bhavsar, President of the GSPCA Vadodara, said the animal rescuers retrieved the crocodile from a substation in the Manjalpur area. They notified the forest department and were awaiting a vehicle to transport the reptile.

Local media reported that onlookers gathered and attempted to approach the crocodile, prompting the rescuers to transport the reptile on their motorcycle to ensure safety.

Crocodiles frequently enter residential areas in Vadodara during the monsoon season as the Vishwamitri River, home to over 300 crocodiles, overflows.

Gujarat has seen 32 fatalities due to rain-related incidents as the state continues to experience heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department issued a ‘red alert' for Thursday, warning that the deep depression over Saurashtra and Kachchh could intensify as it moves towards the northeast Arabian Sea, potentially bringing even more rainfall.
