Los Angeles, United States - September 02, 2024

09/02/2024 03:40 am (GMT-0800) | LOS ANGELES – At 3:40 a.m. Monday, LAFD crews responded to a reported rubbish fire in the 800 block of North Hill Street in the Chinatown area of Los Angeles.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy flames and smoke coming from a one-story commercial building that caught on fire from the reported nearby rubbish fire. The fire was then upgraded to a commercial structure fire, according to Margaret Stewart, an LAFD spokesperson.

The flames exposed a nearby apartment building that was protected by firefighters during the firefight. Knockdown of the fire was achieved in under one hour.

The extent of damage to the commercial building and the cause are unknown at this time.

No injuries were reported.
