A security guard carried a monitor lizard on a metal road out of a family's bathroom.

Footage shows the employee evacuating the reptile from the property when a resident called for assistance in Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand, on September 1.

The lizard was then released back to its habitat unharmed.

The resident said: 'I found a monitor lizard in the bathroom. I had to call the village security guard to come and catch it.'

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
