Monitor lizard caught clinging to family's gate
A monitor lizard was caught climbing outside a family's metal folding gate while trying to chase a cat.
The reptile was preying on the residents' pet and was looking for a way inside the property when it was found in Bangkok, Thailand on August 30.
Footage shows the 4ft (1.2 meters) wild animal sprawled on the metal structure.
Rescuers were called to the home and helped remove the animal as it refused to leave despite the house owners trying to chaese it away.
One of the rescuers from Civil Defence Volunteers of Bang Bon district said: ‘The residents poked it with a stick but it would not leave.'
A volunteer had to drag it away from the gate and tie its limbs while a cloth was used to cover its eyes.
The lizard was taken to the rescue facility to be released later.
Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.
The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
