A pelican was about to swallow a pigeon at the Green Rabbit Animal and Plant theme park in Xi 'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, when the staff rushed to rescue the bird from the its mouth.

According to staff, the pelican had swallowed a pigeon the day before, on August 27, and not for the first time, it seemed to have a habit of "eating colleagues."

It is understood that the pelican's mouth is 1/3 of its body length, and the upper part of the beak is no different from other birds, but the amazing thing is that the lower part of the beak is: Is a layer of skin structure composed of sac-like structure, this part is called "throat sac", scientists believe that the pelican throat sac is evolved from the throat skin, the purpose is to adapt to water hunting, mouth, mouth, shut, a set of operations flow. But it turns out that pelicans use their mouths to eat, sometimes not out of a natural, targeted predatory behavior, but out of curiosity to put everything in their mouths.

The video was filmed on Aug 28 and provided with permission from local media.
