SOUNDBITE (English): TREVOR HAMBAYI, Zambian economist
"China in the meantime, especially for the African countries, is a very important partner because of the fact that in terms of economic recovery, they are the ones that we are actually having to do a lot of trade with rather than Europe. And this fundamentally is a very strong point.
So firstly is that you must appreciate China's strategy towards Africa. If you look at the past 10 to 15 years, most of the infrastructure that has been brought about on the African continent has been financed by China. And China has become the largest single bilateral financier on the global space for the African continent."
