In a swift and coordinated operation, the U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 26-year-old woman the cruise ship Navigator of the Seas, approximately 30 miles west of San Diego, on August 29, 2024. The rescue was conducted by an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Station San Diego.

The woman, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, was experiencing a medical emergency aboard the vessel. The decision to medevac her was made after onboard medical staff assessed her condition and determined that immediate advanced medical was necessary.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Coast Guard crew launched into action, navigating through the night to reach the cruise ship. The woman was hoisted aboard the Jayhawk and transported back to San Diego, where she was handed over to emergency medical services waiting on the ground.

She was then rushed to Hillcrest Medical Center at the University of California, San Diego, for further treatment. The specifics of her medical have not been disclosed, but reports confirm she was conscious and receiving care upon arrival at the hospital.
