Otters have fun cooling off in paddling pools full of ice
This is the adorable moment playful otters enjoyed paddling pools full of ice to cool off on a warm day.
Footage shows the two short-clawed animals, Sumatra and Padawan, beating the heat with an 'otter ice party' at the Knockhatch Adventure Park in Hailsham.
The five-year-old mammals were seen cracking open ice cubes, mimicking their natural foraging behaviours.
Zoo supervisor Alana Lay-Flurrie said: 'The ice is a thrilling new experience for them. Despite their age, they still exhibit a very playful spirit, which is delightful to watch.'
Asian short-clawed otters, the smallest otter species, are native to Southeast Asia's wetlands and mangroves. These creatures are listed as vulnerable due to habitat destruction, pollution, and the illegal pet trade.
