STORYLINE:

The World Bank on Tuesday revised India's growth prospects during 2024-25 to 7 percent, up from its June forecast of 6.6 percent.

In a press statement, the World Bank said that amid challenging external conditions, it expected India's growth to remain strong in the next two years.

"To create more trade-related jobs, India can integrate more deeply into global value chains which will also create opportunities for innovation and productivity growth," the World Bank said.

According to the international financial institution, India's rapid economic growth of 8.2 percent in the 23/24 fiscal year was boosted by public infrastructure investment and an upswing in household investments in real estate.

It added that India had boosted its competitiveness through the National Logistics Policy and digital initiatives that were reducing trade costs.
