This is the astonishing moment a truck's lock failed and sackloads of money fell out onto the road - as kind locals rushed over to help the driver collect the notes.

The vehicle was carrying the day's takings from a bus company to the bank when the boot swung open in Pingfang District in the city of Harbin in Heilongjiang, China, on August 31.

Incredibly, onlookers who witnessed the incident rushed over to help, and in the end, reportedly, all of the money was successfully gathered up and returned after the incident

Local media reported the boot look failed as the car with two people inside was carrying sackloads of cash, which were the day's takings from the bus company.

When the lock burst open, the money flew over the road, and one of the bags also reportedly fell out.

As the video shows, kindhearted people rushed over and gathered fistfuls of money, which were stuffed in the bags and returned to the vehicle.

Locals were amazed that people had not pocketed any cash, and all had been returned.
